Raising awareness. Sharing experiences. Strengthening the MPN community.

MPN Awareness Day 2026 will take place on September 10th.

Each year, MPN Awareness Day brings the global MPN community together to raise awareness of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and shine a light on the realities of living with these rare blood cancers.

In 2026, the MPN Advocates Network (MPN AN) will once again join patients, care partners, patient organisations, healthcare professionals and supporters around the world to increase understanding of MPNs and ensure that the voices and experiences of people affected by them are heard.

Why MPN awareness matters

For many people, myelofibrosis (MF), polycythaemia vera (PV) and essential thrombocythaemia (ET) are unfamiliar conditions until an MPN becomes part of their lives.

Behind every diagnosis is a person navigating much more than a medical condition.

Living with an MPN can mean managing symptoms, treatment and regular monitoring while dealing with uncertainty and the impact the disease can have on work, family life, relationships and emotional well-being. Many of these challenges may not always be visible to others.

This is why awareness matters.

Greater awareness can help improve understanding of MPNs, bring greater recognition to the challenges experienced by patients and their families, and encourage meaningful conversations about the needs of people living with these conditions.

It can also help patients and care partners discover the information, patient organisations and support communities available to them.

Making MPNs visible

On September 10th, we invite the global MPN community to come together and help make MPNs more visible.

There are many ways to take part:

  • Share reliable information about MPNs with your community.
  • Talk about the realities and challenges of living with an MPN.
  • Share your experience as a patient, care partner or patient advocate.
  • Help others learn more about MF, PV and ET.
  • Connect people affected by MPNs with patient organisations and support communities.
  • Share and amplify the voices of people living with MPNs around the world.

Every story and every voice can contribute to greater understanding.

By speaking openly about MPNs and the experiences of those affected, we can help ensure that these rare blood cancers – and the people living with them – are not overlooked.
