Visa requirements for France depend on your nationality and country of residence. As France is part of the Schengen Area, travellers entering France will also be subject to Schengen visa regulations.

Citizens of many countries, including most European countries, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, the United States, and several countries in Latin America and Asia, may enter the Schengen Area visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

To confirm whether you require a visa to travel to France, please visit the official French government visa portal: France-Visas Official Website.

If you require a visa, you will generally need to apply for a Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C) through the French consulate, embassy, or official visa application center responsible for your country of residence.

Visa processing times vary depending on the country of application and the season. In general, Schengen visa applications are processed within approximately 30 calendar days, although delays may occur during busy periods. We therefore strongly recommend starting the visa application process as early as possible.

To support your application, Marija will provide the necessary documentation before you apply. Required supporting documents include:

  • Flight Itinerary
  • Hotel Confirmation Letter
  • Invitation letters from:
    • Local patient organisation VIVRE AVEC UNE NMP
    • MPN Advocates Network (LePAF), confirming that all costs, including travel, accommodation, and meals, will be covered by LePAF.

Please ensure your passport is valid before making travel arrangements for at least 6 months from departure day.

The European Entry/Exit System (EES) is now operational for non-EU nationals travelling to the Schengen Area for short stays. In addition, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) for visa-exempt travellers is expected to launch later in 2026 but is not yet active.
